"Os Dez Mandamentos" is a Brazilian biblical soap opera that aired its first season in 2015, and is based on the biblical story of Moses and the Exodus. The show was created and produced by RecordTV, and starred Guilherme Winter as Moses, and Sérgio Marone as Ramses II.
The first season follows Moses' life from his birth and adoption by the Egyptian royals, to his discovering his true Hebrew heritage and becoming the leader of the Israelites. The story also focuses on his relationship with his wife Zípora, his brother Aaron, and his clashes with Ramses II, who refuses to let the Israelites leave Egypt.
The first season was a huge success in Brazil, and was praised for its high production value and its accurate portrayal of the biblical events. It was also reportedly the most expensive production in Brazilian television history. The show was so popular that it spawned a film adaptation and a second season, which aired in 2016.
